The World Health Organisation defines addiction as a chronic relapsing condition. Our treatment philosophy recognises that addiction is a multi-faceted illness affecting the individual’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. To achieve sustainable positive change each of these aspects require addressing.
DayHab utilises a multi-disciplinary approach that includes:
- Individual counselling with addiction counselling specialists
- Group therapy
- Educational presentations and interactive workshops
- In-depth aftercare planning
- Ongoing support and aftercare groups
We offer both outpatient and residential services to cater for various client needs. The program is intensive, and clients are required to partake in all aspects of treatment. Aftercare support is provided on an ongoing basis and individual, couples and family addiction counselling is available upon request.
We provide a therapeutic community and clients are encouraged to be both supportive and supportable thereby helping themselves. The mainstay of treatment is professionally led group therapy with individual counselling and educational programs, all reinforcing the group process. The treatment process starts with a detailed comprehensive assessment, group therapy, educational services and individual therapy. The multi-disciplinary process involves relaxation, stress coping skills, assertion skills, process groups, family information sessions, discharge planning and aftercare.
DayHab clients are also introduced to 12 step programs including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Gamblers Anonymous, designed to provide them with the opportunity to develop supportive relationships within a community of recovery focused people.
